Hello everybody, I hope they’re okay <3
The topic
I’m going to talk to you about today is the person I admire. She was an
inspiration to me, to continue acquiring knowledge of this discipline was Jane
Addams, who was a feminist, pacifist, sociologist and one of the pioneers of
social work in the United States. Making multiple contributions to social
services, he offered in his settlement house called Hull House. She allowed
many families who were in poverty to have food, health, education, work.
She was
born on September 6, 1860 in Cedarville, Illinois, United States. She studied
at the Women’s Medical School in Philadelphia. Initially he was interested in
studying medicine, but due to health problems he had to leave his studies in
that area. She later realized his interest in helping the poor, which is why he
was inspired by an article about settlement houses, to create her own house.
She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931, after years of pacifism and
opposition to her country’s integration into the First World War. She was the
first American woman to receive such an award. She died on May 21, 1935 in
Chicago, Illinois, USA
The reason
I admire her is because despite the sexist, classist and racist times in which
she lived, Jane always worked hard to fight for the rights of women and the
most disadvantaged people.
Thanks for reading my post c:
